(Equivalent to MBBS in India)

2025-2026; updated on 13th June 2025

The Philippines has become a popular destination for Indian students pursuing medical education abroad, thanks to its American-style curriculum, English-speaking environment, and recent regulatory reforms.

✅ Recent Policy Developments

The Philippine government has amended its Medical Act of 1959, introducing key changes that now allow foreign nationals, including Indian students, to not only pursue a medical degree (BS-MD) but also allows to legally practice medicine within Philippines after meeting all licensure requirements.

Key Highlights for Indian Students:

  • Revised Medical Act: The amendment permits international students to practice medicine in the Philippines, subject to passing the local licensure examination and meeting internship requirements.
  • Program Structure:
    • BS (Bachelor of Science) – Pre-medical phase (14 months).
    • MD (Doctor of Medicine) – 4 and ½ years of medical training ( 54 months)
    • Followed by a 12-month clinical internship.
  • NMC Alignment: The curriculum offered by CHED-accredited universities is aligned with global standards and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, subject to updated NMC guidelines.
  • Language & Clinical Exposure:
The medium of instruction is English, and students benefit from early clinical exposure in government and private hospitals affiliated with their colleges.

NMC Recognised Medical Colleges in the Philippines for Indian Students :

These institutions are CHED-recognized and have a sizable population of Indian students, with strong alumni support networks and hostel facilities catering to international students.

Not all medical colleges are following NMC Guidelines of 2021 for FMGL regulation, its is highly recommend to take expert opinion from people who are well familiar with Philippines and the admission process. Beware of fake agents.

Why Indian Students Prefer the Philippines:

  • Affordable Tuition & Living Costs
  • Globally Recognized Curriculum
  • High FMGE (MCI Screening) Pass Rates – it’s not just a claim, it’s proven.
  • Cultural Compatibility & Indian Food Availability
